Construction

  • ASME Section VIII, Division 1, U-stamped. Alberta registration A0509920.
  • Shell: SA-516-70, 0.875" nominal thickness, 10' 4.25" ID, 9 courses, full radiography on long seams.
  • Heads: 2:1 elliptical, SA-516-70, 0.7966" minimum thickness.
  • Design temperature 125°F, hydrotested at 325 psi. Impact-tested components are rated to -50°F.
  • Saddle supports welded at each end. 24" RFWN manway.

Nozzles (all 300# RF unless noted)

  • Pressure relief: 2 x 4"
  • Fill: 4"
  • Liquid out: 2 x 3"
  • Vapour with internal riser: 2 x 2"
  • Inlet fuel gas, recycle and spare (blinded): 2" each
  • Sight gauges: 2 x 2"
  • Float gauge 2-1/2", roto gauge 2", plus 3/4" pressure/level gauge and thermowell connections on the heads

Over-pressure protection

  • Two manifolds with four Rego relief valves each, 2-1/2" inlet, set at 250 psi. All eight valves were purchased new in May 2013.

Inspection history (July 2014)

  • External: no concerns. Supports, foundation, piping, valves, coating, ladder and platform were all acceptable. UT found no issues.
  • Internal: heads, shell, nozzles and all welds in good condition with no corrosion. 100% wet fluorescent magnetic particle inspection of all seams, nozzles and attachment welds found no indications. Light scaling was noted at the bottom of the shell.
  • The inspector rated it fit for service and eligible for a Grade 2 (10-year) internal inspection interval under AB-506. The next internal inspection was recommended for 2024, so a buyer should plan on a re-inspection and PSV service before putting it back into service.
