750 bbl Coated Storage Tank
750 bbl Sour Service Coated Storage Tank | Jensen's Tanks | 2011 | API 12F | 100% Internal Coating | 1.5" Foam Insulation | Fox Creek, AB
This 750-barrel sour service storage tank was fabricated in 2011 by Jensen's Tanks, a division of Jensen's Welding Ltd. (2006), to the API 12F standard, the recognized industry specification for shop-welded storage tanks in oilfield service. The tank has been in continuous production service at Fox Creek, Alberta, where it was operating as part of an integrated production battery alongside a 10' x 55' horizontal treater, gas boot, plate exchanger, flare stack, and VRU knockout.
The vessel is built to a primary diameter of 183 inches (approximately 15'3") and a primary height of 288 inches (24 feet), yielding a rated primary capacity of 124.5 m³ (approximately 783 barrels). Shell thickness is 0.188", floor thickness is 0.250", and roof thickness is 0.188" — all consistent with API 12F construction for this capacity class.
A standout feature of this tank is its 100% internal coating, confirmed on the data plate and visually evident from the interior inspection photo. The coating is applied over the full interior surface including the floor, shell, and roof — providing robust corrosion protection well-suited to sour crude service. The exterior is finished with 1.5" foam insulation, which reduces heat loss, helps maintain fluid viscosity in cold Alberta conditions, and is a meaningful operational advantage for a tank in this service.
Design parameters reflect a sour crude application: design specific gravity of 1.25, design pressure of 8 oz (0.5 PSI), design liquid level of 275 inches, minimum design metal temperature of -40°C, and a maximum design temperature of +50°C. The tank is rated for Sour service as confirmed on the data plate.
The exterior condition, visible in the site photograph, shows the tank standing upright on timber skids with the manway open — consistent with a recently decommissioned or staged-for-sale configuration. The foam insulation wrap is intact and in good overall condition. The interior photograph confirms the coating is present and largely intact, with no visible delamination or significant corrosion in the accessible areas.
This is a well-specified, sour-rated, fully coated and insulated production tank from a reputable Alberta fabricator, available as part of a larger battery package or as a standalone unit.
